For Me, Therapy Is More Than A Job—It’s My Number-One Passion In Life

My life has been one of constantly adapting to the way my brain functions and learning to navigate different mental health issues. I had to work hard to get to the bottom of my challenges, and for many years, I struggled to find a treatment aggressive enough to help.

It was through this lifelong search for answers that I developed a passion for mental health care. Working on stabilizing myself made me want to help others do the same. Today, nothing in this world gives me more fulfillment than empowering others to overcome their fears, heal their traumas, and get in touch with their true selves. It’s what keeps me going. The people around me know that I truly love what I do—it’s more a passion than a job.

I have sometimes been referred to as the “explorer” because of my curious, restless nature. I’ve tried so many different healing methods throughout my life, and I am constantly incorporating new ones into my practice. By combining a wealth of spiritual and shamanic approaches with evidence-based cognitive therapies, I am able to help clients improve their mental health and access their true spiritual essence.

My Passion For Working With Trauma Survivors

In my work as a psychotherapist, I empower clients to improve their mental health and connect with their spirituality. I am especially passionate about helping those who are struggling with complex trauma. After all, so much of the emotional pain that we carry with us in our lives is rooted in unresolved traumas. Many of us have scars from childhood that left us feeling scared, vulnerable, and unsafe in our own skin. It’s my goal to help clients heal from the pain of the past so that they can create safety in their bodies and feel more confident in day-to-day life.

Many of the clients I work with have been let down by therapy in the past. Although they were given some helpful cognitive skills and coping strategies, they didn’t get to the core of their symptoms. Because my approach goes much deeper than standard talk therapy, I am able to address the true complexities of trauma and help people finally let go of old fears and vulnerabilities.

My Somatic Approach To The Healing Process

One thing I often hear from clients is that I help them see things in a completely new light. Many of them tell me, “I never thought of it like that,” when we talk about mental health issues in sessions.  This is largely thanks to the somatic (body-based) approaches that I draw from in therapy. Although most forms of psychotherapy engage the mind, the solution lies in the body, because that’s where our deepest emotional wounds lie.

I want to help clients get in touch with their bodies on a deeper level and show them how to identify where their emotional pain shows up somatically. To do so, I draw from a wide range of mindfulness-based strategies like meditation, breathwork, grounding, and resourcing. Not only do these skills help calm the mind and body, but they also foster a healthier spiritual connection.

I often utilize hypnotherapy in sessions, encouraging clients to channel their awareness through a trance-like state where they can safely engage with their subconscious. I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, which uses bilateral stimulation techniques to help people process and resolve their traumas. And when appropriate, I like to bring in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills to help clients challenge cognitive distortions and reframe negative self-beliefs.

A Little Bit About Who I Am

People often tell me that I am a good listener and that I make them feel like they can be exactly who they are with me. I strive to help them dive deep into the heart of their struggles by cultivating an atmosphere of openness and honesty. Above all, I value other people’s happiness. I believe that when we can remove all the trauma that obscures who we are, we can discover our true passion and purpose.

Outside of being a therapist, my family is the most important thing in my life, and I’m very passionate about being a father. When I’m not in sessions with clients, you can often find me bowling, fishing, hunting, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Based on my unique blend of spiritual and science-backed approaches and my experience working through my mental health challenges, I’m confident that I can help you achieve healing and find the path forward!
